Alejandro Negrete-Hendrie

Founder, Nous Institute · Guide & Teacher of Integrated Self-Realization

BIOGRAPHY

Alejandro Negrete-Hendrie is a guide and teacher of integrated Self-realization, devoted to helping sincere seekers walk a grounded, coherent, and deeply authentic spiritual path.

Born and raised in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, within a bicultural family, he developed an early sensitivity to multiple worldviews and the necessity of synthesis over dogma.

His conscious spiritual journey began at age fifteen following the sudden death of his mother — an event accompanied by a powerful mystical experience that initiated a lifelong inquiry into consciousness, human nature, and the process of Self-realization.

Alejandro holds a BA in East–West Philosophy from Colorado College, including immersive study in India. He completed residential training in Tibetan Buddhism at Vajrapani Institute and lived a Zen monastic life at Green Gulch Zen Center — experiences that grounded his understanding of spiritual discipline, humility, and the gradual maturation of realization beyond peak experiences.

He later undertook an eleven-year apprenticeship with a Gnostic teacher, which included extensive work with non-ordinary states of consciousness, giving him a direct and embodied understanding of their transformative potential and their dangers. He served as a spiritual guide and teacher within that tradition before leaving in 2016 — a difficult but necessary decision, when he recognized that continued participation was no longer aligned with his ethical compass or inner development. That departure profoundly shaped his commitment to psychological honesty, inner authority, and non-dogmatic spirituality.

He later completed an advanced formation at the Synthesis Center, earning both his Psychosynthesis Life Coach and Advanced Practitioner certifications, and contributed a chapter — "Spiritual Psychosynthesis in Times of Global Crisis" — to the published book The Call of Self: Psychosynthesis Life Coaching. He also holds a certificate in Spiritual Emergency from the Integrative Mental Health University, where he trained with Emma Bragdon — deepening his capacity to accompany seekers through the destabilizing dimensions of the awakening process.

His contemplative practice found its deepest root in Kriya Yoga as taught by Paramahansa Yogananda — a lineage that brought an entirely new depth to his own realization and to everything he teaches.

Today, his work integrates transpersonal psychology, Psychosynthesis, trauma-informed spirituality, wisdom traditions, and integrative developmental perspectives — brought together through the Nous Method, an integrated psycho-spiritual framework for awakening, healing, transformation, and embodiment. Through the Nous Institute, he offers structured training for those who feel genuinely called to live the process of Self-realization as an embodied, honest, and truly fulfilling reality.
